Spazio Viruly presents “UNBOXING: A Room as Instrument” at Superattico in Milan’s Porta Venezia Design District during Milan Design Week 2026 (April 20–26). The site-specific exhibition brings together Rotterdam-based designers Matthijs Koerts and Merijn Haenen, who dismantle familiar devices into their essential components—energy, tension, light, and sound—and reassemble them into an immersive spatial installation.
In Superattico’s compact double-height space, visible from the street and inside, visitors can move freely around the works, engaging closely with their construction and materiality. Koerts presents suspended, open speaker anatomies exposing membranes, coils, and magnets, turning the room into a resonance body. Haenen’s light installations, made from neon tubes and connectors, create sculptural lines of tension that reshape the space.
The exhibition features listening sessions and performances, including two live shows by Milan-based dancer Eleonora Cattaneo, accompanied by a specially designed soundscape.
