IKEA presents “Food For Thought”, an exhibition exploring the relationship between design, food and conviviality, placing the everyday rituals that unfold around cooking and sharing meals at its centre. From April 21 to 26, at Spazio Maiocchi, the installation invites visitors into an immersive experience reflecting on how design can foster conviviality and turn food into a universal language of connection.
Inspired by the traditional Swedish saluhall, the project reinterprets this social marketplace through immersive environments and a large central kitchen at the heart of the exhibition. Food becomes the narrative thread connecting different moments of domestic life — from meal preparation to everyday gatherings — highlighting contemporary habits, gestures and rituals.
Created in collaboration with international chefs and interior designers, the installations offer new perspectives on the kitchen as a space for creativity and connection. “Food For Thought” also previews a new IKEA collection, to be unveiled during Milan Design Week 2026.
