VELOURIA
(“Somewhere near and far in time”)

Following Natural Disco in 2024, Collection Particulière is returning to the Mudima Foundation in April 2025 with VELOURIA, the title taken from American rock band, Pixies (Bossanova, 1990).
No point in looking for it in the dictionary, it isn’t there.
VELOURIA is a resonance, an intuition, a touch – of velvet no doubt, that silky, two-directional fabric.
Or perhaps it’s a name? Imagine her, an erudite, demanding, passionate woman. A collector of emotions, desires, textures. She enthuses about the shade of a wood, the way a fabric falls, the subtility of a patina. She loves stories, those told to her and those she invents. She likes hot and cold, velvet, of course, but also mahogany, walnut, ceramics and bronze. Her tastes are constantly developing.
You won’t meet VELOURIA, but you’ll feel her presence everywhere – in the way the space is organized, in the way the pieces of furniture are presented and dialogue with each other. And sometimes in the way they oppose each other.

Delcourt Collection

TIME STRETCHED

Marking his company’s 30th anniversary, Christophe Delcourt presents Time Stretched, a series of pieces celebrating artists and architects who have inspired him. A collection punctuated with subtle references to op art, Arte Povera and minimalism, and created around the central theme of the constructive principle, of the way in which the elements interweave, juxtapose or superimpose.

Everything is a point of departure, support or assembly. A section of wood, the way in which a form and counter-form fit together, the balance of a base, the interlocking of a backrest and seat. Everything is material. Everything is fertile ground for experimentation.

Christophe Delcourt likes to consult his repertoire of form continuously, delving into the artistic references that feed his imagination to give life to pieces of architectural furniture, little utopias transformed into a table, bench or chair.
